Coach Peggy Knight Bio
Knight is coming into her second year as the Head Coach for the Lake Mary Girls Basketball Program. In her first year (2019-20 season) she went 13-11 with only two returning starters. Coach Knight had three players make the Seminole Athletic Conference (SAC) All Second-Team, Makenzie Monzon 20′, Jayla Woods 21′ and Jordan Boddie 23′.
Knight is a familiar face around campus as she is an Almuni of #RamNation Class of 2011. Knight played under former Coach Rick Weyers as his starting shooting guard for two seasons (2009-2011).Â
Coach Peggy was a part of the 2010 State Championship team with a record of 32-2. After winning States, Knight was a part of history being the first high school girls’ basketball team invited to “ESPN RISE” in Maryland. During her second year as a starting combo guard, Knight was one of the top leading scorers on the team, which led them to States a second year in a row with a record of 30-3.Â
Knight’s hard work and dedication led her to a full ride basketball scholarship. She graduated from Appalachian State University in May of 2016 with a degree in Communications and minor in Psychology. After graduation, she moved to the west coast to pursue her coaching career as an Assistant Coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas under Head Coach Kathy Olivier. In her two years at UNLV, she went 41-23 with two WNIT (Women’s National Invitation Tournament) appearances. Knight was apart of the Lady Rebels First Mountain West Conference Season Championship 2017-18.
Coach Peggy made her way back home to Florida this past year connecting with her former Head Coach Rick Weyers as his Assistant going into the 2018-19 season. Her transition alongside Coach Weyers was a big asset to the team that led them to an overall record of 20-6.
Knight is married to Tykwan Knight and the couple have two sons, Prince (2) and a baby boy named Messiah.
